Where are you from? I grew up in Winslow, Maine, and have lived in Saratoga Springs, NY; Tampa, FL; Portland, Me; and now Boulder, Co.
How old were you when you took your first dance class? I was seven years old, and I took ballet and acrobats at Laurie's School of Dance.
What made you decide to become a dance teacher? I think from the very first dance class I ever took, I just knew it was what I was going to do. It's the most rewarding, fulfilling experience I can imagine, and I've always loved the limitless possibilities that lie within a dance classroom.
What do you like most about teaching with Creative Dance Kids? My kids! When people ask me if I have kids, I say, "Yes, about 40 of them, but only for an hour a week."
Do you have any professional performances coming up? If so, with who? When and where will the show be? Not as of now.
What is your favorite dance move/trick to teach? My favorite part of dance class is improvising-- free dancing, or as I like to call it "groove time." It's the time where everyone gets to be the dancer, the teacher, and the audience. I love to see what my kids can come up with off the cuff, and the creativity and innovation they show when improvising never cease to amaze me.
